About us

Since its founding in 2013, Lauren Crocco A&D has been dedicated to custom residential design. Our homes are meant to be reflective of their place and designed to stand the test of time. Every project is crafted to meet on our client's definition of 'home' with special consideration given to light, appropriate scale and comfort. A well designed home will last 100 years or more. We don't take our task lightly.

We are housemakers

Foremost to our practice is the act of listening and understanding our clients’ needs and goals.

During the design process we work with our clients to craft a home that is both distinct and thoughtful based on conversations and layers of exploration. The design process should be enjoyable, resulting in a sense of accomplishment and a home to be cherished for years to come.

Another key component to our process is working alongside interior designers, landscape architects, builders, and craftspeople. We value other’s expertise and believe the best projects are a result of collaboration. We guide the team to ensure the design intent is cohesive and well executed.

Finally, we are proud of our repeat clients and referrals, and grateful to have worked on inspired projects throughout the West. We love what we do and make it our mission to create beautiful bespoke homes. We look forward to the opportunity to share our passion with you.

Our Team

Lauren Crocco

founder, Aia

After receiving her Master of Architecture from the University of Washington in 2006, Lauren has dedicated her career to custom residential design. She enjoys digging into the details to create homes that reflect their owner's lifestyle and preferences as well as the environments they inhabit.

No matter the location, her designs seek to carve out moments that will be memorable such as a window that perfectly frames a tree, a charming reading nook, or making sure an east facing deck is perfectly placed for morning coffee. Lauren cares greatly about her client's experience in their home and takes joy in guiding them on the journey.

Lauren is a Seattle native with a deep love for the Northwest. Yes, even the weather. She gives the gray climate credit for the importance she places in homes that evoke a sense of comfort and warmth. To her, there is nothing better than a rainy day spent cozying up with her family at home in West Seattle. In her free time, she enjoys planning her family's next travel adventure and day dreaming about living in a cottage in the English countryside.

Lauren has worked on projects throughout the country and is a licensed architect in Washington, Idaho, Colorado and New York.

Ashley Vail

ARCHITECT, Aia

Ashley believes a well-designed home can increase joy and foster human connections. She creates spaces to be used and lived in and finds ways to enhance the homes she works on with elements of delight and refuge. Ashley takes particular joy in working alongside clients and loves showing how bespoke design can provide solutions for their particular wants and needs.

Ashley received both her Bachelor and Master of Architecture from the University of Washington, and started her career in retail and multi-family work. She joined Lauren Crocco A+D in 2016 to focus on smaller projects that make a tangible impact in people’s lives. Ashley has a passion for the specifics of building science and construction detailing and excels at communicating with the construction team to ensure the design is built as intended.

In her free time Ashley enjoys watercolor painting, dreaming of Italy, and adventures with her husband and two children. Her idea of heaven is an oceanside cottage, a herd of goats, and an endless supply of cheese.

Betsey Sherman

associate

Betsey is a Pacific NW native with a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Oregon.  She has worked in commercial and residential architecture for over 20 years, with experience in consulting roles as well as architectural project management for a local outdoor retailer.   Drawing inspiration from historic structures and the natural beauty of the northwest, Betsey is passionate about fusing clients needs with long-term solutions for the site.   She lives in Maple Valley with her husband and two daughters, and her favorite things include skiing, scratch cocktails, and adopting small mixed breed mutts.
